Sesame Laddu | Til Laddu |Sankrant special

It is winter and what more reason to include great food which creates the warmth in body. This little goodness has Sesame, Peanuts , Desiccated Coconut and Jaggery!! Does it not sound like our very own Indian Energy balls.

Sankranti is celebrated all over in India as Harvest festival with different names. Growing up for me Sankranti ,meant  tagging along with Mom to various neighbors home for performing Haldi- kumkum.
A ritual performed by married women applying Vermin-on ( Kumkum ) to each other and then give small token and sweets . Sweets were Mostly Til( Sesame) and Gud( Jaggery)

We kids exchanged saying "Til Gud Ghya and Gud Gud Bola" which translates to Take this sweetness of Sesame and Jaggery and be sweet to others.

After collecting the Til Laddu from all the neighbors , it used to an unsaid competition who makes the best.  Some turned out to be Super Hard Ball .. needed hammer ...lol

Try out this recipe and you wont need a Hammer ...

Ingredients
2/3 cup Sesame
1/4 cup Desiccated coconut
1/4 cup Peanuts
1 cup Jaggery
3 tbsp Water

Til Laddu Close up

Procedure
Dry roast all the dry ingredients,  sesame, coconut and peanut ,one by one on slow flame.

I have used my Gourmia airfrier to roast them. Sesame 5 mins , coconut 2 mins and peanuts 🥜 8 mins at 370F.

I kept a net from my server on top of it, else the Sesame would just fly off inside.

Now once its dry roast keep it aside.
In pan add little water, and Jaggery and give it a nice boil to form Jaggery syrup.

Water Test Jaggery :  Drop just melts in the cold water

Drop holds its shape and its ready.. We don't want to very thick.

Now add it to the mixture and mix well n quickly.

Take it off from frame firstly!!

Take small scopes and make balls .
Once if cools , it will be difficult to roll them.

Store it in air tight container and enjoy for weeks !!!
