Sabudana Vada in Oven & Appe Pan

Sabudana or Sago are traditionally consumed during fasting or vrats. Sabudana Vada are basically deep fried snack. However with this Baked version of vada indulge in some guilt-free treat even on your non-fasting days.

I have also included my another alternative to deep frying is using the appe pan using minimal oil about 1 tsp oil for each. I tried doing both of these versions on separate days and we liked both. With Baked just keep it in oven and your are free to do other stuff, with appe pan you still be closer to your cooking range. But trust me both are equally good.Try out either of the versions.

Ingredients

2 cups Soaked Sabudana( 1 cup pre-soaked)

1 Large Boiled Potato

½ cup Crushed peanut

Handful of chopped coriander/cilantro

½ Lemon Juice

Salt as per taste

1 tsp Sugar

1 tsp Cumin seeds

Chopped Green Chills

Procedure

Step1: Soak Sabudana/Sago in warm water for 5 hrs or overnight in room temperature water.

Water just enough to submerge the Sabudana/ Sago. Mix all the ingredients and lightly mash them well.Wet your hands while making balls to give it a smooth finish.

Using Appe Pan

If you are using the appe pan or going for the traditional approach for deep frying make medium size balls .

Checkout the amount of oil used making them. Simply Superb!!

For Baking:

Mix all the above ingredients and make Round Flat Patty instead of round balls.

In the meanwhile Preheat the oven to 400 Deg F. Place these patty on the baking tray lined with baking sheet. Bake for about 50-55 mins and turn over half way.

Tips: I generally wet my hands while making patties and then apply oil on hands to rub against the patties, so that there is a  thin coating of oil on the patty.

Do try it out and like my page if your are inspired. Thanks!
