Fasting Samo Cutlets
Fasting is done traditionally in various regions of India on different days and festivals. Our family likes to use this one of the easy ingredient to consume during fasting in various forms and that is Sama. Also popularly known as vrat ke chawal( fasting rice)/ moraiyo.
We all love cutlets/pattice is various forms and this is one such recipe.
Ingrediants
Samo ( Vrat ke chawal)
Water ( to cook samo)
1 Potato boiled and smashed
1/2 cup grated paneer ( cottage cheese)
1/4 cup desiccated coconut (optional)
1/4 cup almond powder ( optional)
chopped cilantro
chilli -ginger paste
salt
cumin(jeera powder)
Procedure
1: Add water to the samo and cook it on medium flame until it is soft.
Samo triples in quantity so be mindful of the amount you take. Alternatively, you could add water and microwave it for 3 mins like me. Make sure there is no water left else the stuffing will be soggy.
2: Add rest of the ingredients and mix well.
2: Once mixed well , apply some oil on your hand and make small balls from the stuffing.
Shallow fry it in the pan/ skillet until golden brown.
4: Serve hot / warm with nice Green chutney or just eat the way you like. Fasting or not fasting Enjoy!
